Family Therapy
Program
Description
Solutions for Living's
Family Therapy component is designed as a time-intensive,
in-home and community based array of coordinated
services. It is intended for multi-problem families in
which there is the risk of fragmentation or the potential
for re-unification. The Program supports and strengthens
the family unit and enables it to become an effective
support system for its individual members while promoting
its ability to interface productively with the community.
The following are some of
the characteristics that frequently describe the
Program's target population:
- destructive marital
relationship
- domestic violence
- lack of an
appropriate climate for the management of
feelings, particularly anger
- parental inability
to manage the process of adolescent development
- severe emotional,
attitudinal, behavioral problems on the part of
pre-adolescent and adolescent members of the
family
- chronically
dysfunctional family dynamics stemming from a
history of alcoholism, drug abuse, psychiatric
conditions, or physical illness
- counterproductive
family interactions resulting from a recent
crisis from which the family system appears to be
unable to recover
Program services include:
- diagnostic
assessment
- multi-dimensional
therapy as dictated by a family's presenting
dynamics
- specialized
counseling: domestic violence, sexual abuse,
substance abuse, family skill building
- family mediation
- crisis intervention
on a 24-hour, 7-day basis
- advocacy and
community resource counseling

parents and for pre-adolescents/adolescents
