Welcome to Solutions for Living

Adolescent Therapy

Program Description

The Adolescent Therapy component of Solution for Living's multi-dimensional programming is a time-intensive, in-home, family and community related intervention intended for high risk children/adolescents who have been or are likely to be resistant or unresponsive to traditional outpatient psychotherapy. The Program supports the youth's basic ability to overcome situationally aggravated developmental problems and to function in a growth enhancing manner in the home, at school, and in the community.

Some of the characteristics that most frequently describe the Program's target population are:

  • depression, sometimes resulting in suicidal gestures or attempts
  • inability to form positive relationships with peers or adults
  • oppositional and/or aggressive behavior toward parents and authority figures
  • incidents of running from home and/or chronic truancy
  • excessive risk-taking
  • delinquent acting-out
  • substance abuse
  • sexual acting-out
  • lack of motivation regarding educational/vocational goals

The Program provides the following services:

  • diagnostic evaluation
  • individual (in-home, community based) therapy
  • family intervention and family mediation
  • group counseling
  • crisis coverage on a 24-hour, 7-day basis
  • advocacy and resource counseling

Program services are generally provided within a three-month or six-month time frame.
